Surprised nobody has written anything about this on Jalopnik/Black Flag/etc. yet.

To me it sounds like a good way to ruin your race career forever. Even if you get a seat this year (Which IMO he doesn't deserve. He is a mediocre driver at best.) you effectively destroy all goodwill and trust with every other team afterwards.

I feel like this could be pretty damaging for Sauber as well. Money decisions were made, contracts were signed, and what happens when one of their current pay drivers tells them to fuck off? You can't bump Nasr because he brought the car's biggest sponsor with him, so does Ericsson counter-sue because he has an existing contract or does it become superseded by VdG's prior contract.

Sounds like the Australian judges wanted FIA input on how dangerous it would be to drop VdG in a car this weekend (it's not... the smaller teams have done it a lot lately). Guess it could come down to how the FIA (is Bernie testifying?) feels about Sauber and if they'll defend Sauber to keep the team from being blown up.

Yeah, he'll never race again.

EDIT - Posted the wrong link - Can't find the right one, bus basically, a guy sued NASCAR over egregious failure of safety related oversight back in the 80s. He won, but never raced again.

so does Ericsson counter-sue because he has an existing contract

From what I read elsewhere Sauber wizened up and wrote Nasr and Ericson's contracts such that they could be told to sit out without it being a breach.

Interesting. If so, Sauber obviously expected that this could be an issue.

For some reason that I dont really know, I would rather have Van DerGarde race instead of Ericsson. Even thou they are both pay drivers I just kinda assume Van Der Garde is the better driver. I don't really remember Ericsson doing anything special last year in the Caterham, granted it was the Caterham but still.
